Hospitality
Do you love making people feel welcome? Our hospitality team is looking for volunteers who will help make guests feel welcome. We need volunteers to greet people as they arrive for worship, staff our guest table, write notes to first-time guests, and maintain our supply of first-time guest gifts. If you love to smile and show kindness to strangers, this is a ministry for you.
Thrift Shop
Would you like to regularly serve your community? Asbury has a very affordable thrift store on 5th Avenue in Kankakee that’s always looking for volunteers. The Asbury Thrift Shop partners with other non-profits in the community to help meet the needs of our neighbors.
Worship
Would you like to serve during our worship services? We’re always happy to have people sign up to be liturgists and ushers.
Church Office
Are you organized? Friendly? Do you love checking things off a to-do list? We’d love to have you volunteer in our church office! You can answer phones, welcome church guests, and perform other office tasks like cutting Connection Cards and putting labels on the church newsletter.
Youth
Do you have a passion for sharing the Gospel with teenagers? Do you love helping young people serve the community? Do you have a great sense of humor? Would you like to go on a mission trip? If so, serving in youth ministry could suit you! Our area United Methodist Churches do youth ministry together, and we are always looking for positive, loving volunteers.
Garden Ministry
Do you have a passion for what God created that is, "Good?" Asbury has a garden that grows a large amount of vegetation for local food pantries in our community.
